Otsondottiki

8,4km    433m    2:10h   Moderate

On this trail we visit the slopes on the east side of the ravine where the river flows. We then arrive at a hill as we approach the area of Otsondottiki and use the St James Way of Baztán to return above the Ikatzateko Borda Valley. At the end we visit the Fount of the Friars, where we can relax a bit before returning to the nearby town. A beautiful trail enabling you to become familiar with the ways of life and the vegetation and forests that carpet these valleys.

Tour around Azkar

6,9km    485m    1:50h   Moderate

Leave the town by the Orabidea path to go completely around the hill, climbing up to its top and then descending between it and the hill of Argandoita. It’s fairly easy at the start, though the slope gradually gets steeper. We walk the trails that join different districts, in bothUrdazubi/Urdax and Baztán (whose border is close to the town). We reach a hill betweenElizagunekobordaandAzkar where a defensive castle was built; a pretty path takes us to its top, where we can view the village at our feet. We then return to the hill and descend through the valley that opens the way between Azkar and Argandoita, whose stream descends through the interior to an area near the town.

Axular’s neighbourhood

5,7km    239m    1:50h   Easy

Urdazubi-Axular-Berroberria / Argandoita-Urdazubi
Path around Argandoita hill through areas around the birthplace of the Basque writer Pedro De Aguerre Axular.

Pass by a centuries-old oak to arrive at the Berroberria quarry (linking up with the caves route). Go up the hill of Argandoita through the village of Etzelekua, then descend to the bottom of the valley until the cemetery ofUrdazubi/Urdax.

Forge trail

3,4km    239m    1:40h   Moderate

Short and interesting route, very well marked along the path, with signs for the « Ruta de la ferrería ».
It follows the river along a narrow trail that can be somewhat muddy on rainy days or afterwards. It crosses the river and the mill canal several times on well-maintained bridges.
